US open contenders
A US Open course doesn't ever get beat up; 3 or 4 under usually wins.
Experts are saying big hitters are favourites and this cannot be ignored but why not a steady golfer who doesn't make mistakes?
Below is a list of our favourites at 121Golf.
Graeme McDowell - last man to win back to back US opens was Curtis Strange in 88 & 89 - GMac is not on good form although he said at the 2011 Wales open that he was playing better than last year - not scoring better though.
Luke Donald - current world no:1 - fatigue may be an issue, has had a heavy 2011 schedule
Rory Mcilroy - could finally get over the line - if anyone to win by big margin Rory is the man.
Dustin Johnson - will want to lay the ghosts of last year to rest - not much form
Bubba Watson - big hitter cannot be ignored
Phil Mickleson - form at Bethpage and everywhere - not much this year though
Lee Westwood - steady in majors and has had a good year so far.
Lucas Glover - won the US open in 09 and has won on the USPGA this year
Nick Watney - steady - has won on USPGA this year
Sergio Garcia - good record in the US Open - showing signs he's finding form - if you're after a long shot then Sergio is a good each way bet.
Good luck and we hope you enjoy the show.
